FAQ: Do I have to speak Hebrew?
No, these kids are fluent in English,
FAQ: Do I need to keep a kosher home? What if I am a vegetarian?
While most of these kids eat anything, we do occasionally have special dietary requests. We always try to match scouts with homes with comparable dietary requirements.
FAQ: What do I feed my scout?
Host families will need to provide breakfast each morning, but lunch and dinner are often provided by the venue where they perform. Breakfast can be as simple as bagels and cream cheese or cold cereal; or it can be as elaborate as eggs and pancakes. You and your scout decide.
FAQ: Do I need to take off work for this?
The scouts are very busy and are gone most of the day. Host families need to be able to drop off at 8:00ish and pick up at 5:00ish each day (we host families are good about carpooling when needed). There will be one free Saturday where you can meet up with other families and show your scout the wonders of our hometown!
FAQ: Do I need to have kids at home?
While the ideal host family has teens at home, empty nesters and families with pre-teen kids are a close second! By the time these scouts get to Minnesota they are ready for a little family TLC. You are not just providing a bed and a meal for a scout, you are providing HOME. As long as you are able to be engaged with your scout, everyone will be happy!
FAQ: Do I need to have a private bedroom and private bathroom for my scout?
These scouts are incredible flexible. Any private space with a bed/futon/air-mattress is fine and a shared or private bathroom is fine.
